Forum Bar & Kitchen
Location: Preston, Lancashire
Brief: To reduce running costs and simplify dimming in a city centre bar
Technology: LED Downlights, Decorative Lighting, Lighting Control System
The Forum bar in Preston City Centre is saving significant amounts of money as a result of a recent project carried out by Lumenata Lighting Design. Low energy halogen downlights, consuming 50w of power each, were swapped for 7w dimmable LED, by Lumenata. A dimming system was also supplied, which allows the staff to quickly set different lighting levels depending on the time of day.
‘It is critical that the bar does not lose any of its ambience by converting to LED lighting and we are very pleased with the final result and the energy savings we are experiencing’.
Bar owner, Marvin Baldwin
Result
A combination of contemporary and retro lighting was used to help create a stylish, glamorous interior for Forum Bar. They include the striking, organic-style Ceiling Swirl which echoes the ripples and swirls of water, positioned over the bar. Diffused light has been created over the tables by using pendants and ceiling lights add to the sophisticated ambience of the restaurant and bar seating area.
In summarising the lighting design, Paul Hindle, Managing Director of Lumenata adds, “Overall the lighting was a key factor in the design as the client was looking for a bold statement, something to create a bit of a talking point. The effect of our new lighting design adds a crystal like ambience that is striking in a very contemporary interior like Forum’s”.
