Our customer on this project was an architect that had been tasked by his property developer client to convert an old town centre dance hall into small apartments. One of the conditions of the local authority was that the apartments should receive adequate natural light for comfortable living. Some of the apartments to the rear of the building were shielded by adjacent buildings and were of concern to the local authority.
After performing a site survey, Lumenata was able to build a model of the building and apartments with the adjacent buildings in situ and calculate the amount of natural light each apartment on both sunny and overcast days. This report was then submitted to the local authority as part of the planning application.
