Popcorn Bar

Location: Chester, Cheshire
Brief: To improve the lighting in a city centre bar
Technology: Dim to warm LED linear lights, dim to warm LED spotlights, LED dimming

Lighting is one of the most important design elements when designing for a contemporary, stylish restaurant and bar. Ceiling lights are becoming more common and retro style illumination can offer a unique take on traditional designs, creating the perfect atmosphere.

We worked with co-owners Ben and Steve on this project and they even selected some the fittings. Their experience has now crafted Popcorn Bar. A collaboration that has been many years in the making, and brings forth many aspects of London’s Shoreditch area, and a little squeeze of New York’s Village.

Retro-style lights are perfect for Popcorn’s relaxed and chic setting, these energy efficient designs, add a creative feature to whichever part of the interior space you are placed in. In this setting they work incredibly well with the exposed ceiling and use of raw materials, giving the ultimate industrial vibe. If you want to channel the retro-chic look, Popcorn is an example of how versatile lights, can bring ambience to a bar and restaurant interior.

Result

Lumenata provided the lighting design as part of the overall client vision. Working closely with the client, we were successful in creating a design that enabled the client to create the aesthetic they had envisaged but also to provide them control to create the ambience they wanted to set.

We added cluster pendants as statement pieces, and we complimented these with discreet fittings that ensured the perfect laid back and refined backdrop in which customers can enjoy Popcorn’s superb selection of wine and food.
